A Note from The Ol’ Cowpoke

The Ol’ Cowpoke (Nikki Ellerbe)

It’s hard to believe that we’ve reached the end of the trail for this year. We, by tradition, don’t meet in July and August. We’ll start back in September with our Gene Autry Roundup.

I want to thank everyone who has helped this year: Ray Smith, Jim Sanders, David Hunter, Bill Lovin, Jerry Sprague and John Cudd. I know everybody thinks that I “take the money and run,” but the job couldn’t be done without the assistance of so many saddle pals.

I want to note the passing of Herb Jeffries in May, at the fine age of 100. He was the last of the B-Western leading men, and the last “singing cowboy.”

Thanks to Arnold McLain for all the notes of encouragement through the years. Mac believes in the written word and so do I.

Until September, So Long Buckaroos.
