Buckaroos and Buckarettes,

At the October meeting, we’ll see the Western Gentleman, Randolph Scott in “Fort Worth.”

From Wikipedia: “Former gunfighter Ned Britt (Randolph Scott) sets up shop in Fort Worth, Texas as a newspaper man. He falls in love with Flora Talbot (Phyllis Thaxter), who is the fiancĂ©e of a former friend, Blair Lunsford (David Brian). Britt tries to expose the crooked cattle baron Gabe Clevinger (Ray Teal) in his newspaper. Clevinger resorts to violence in order to prevent the arrival of the railroad at Fort Worth and Britt has to rethink his journalistic methods to stop him and resort to violence himself.”

The October 18 lineup also includes Chapter 2 of “The Phantom Empire” starring Gene Autry and “Arizona Legion” from 1939 starring George O’Brien.

See you there!

September comes and summer rides into the sunset. Youngsters begin another school year and you can feel Fall in the air. And of course September marks the beginning of another season of terrific B-Westerns at The Western Film Preservation Society.

As is the club’s tradition, September is not only the kickoff for a new year, but also Gene Autry celebration month. This month we celebrate Gene’s 105th birthday.

The lineup for our September 20 meeting is:
“South Of The Border” with Gene, Smiley Burnette, June Storey and Lupita Tovar from 1939.

Our serial this season, “The Phantom Empire” also features Gene, with Frankie Darro and Betsy King Ross.
