Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and George (Gabby) Hayes star in our feature film, “Utah,” this Thursday, November 21 at 6:45 p.m. Republic Pictures released “Utah” in March, 1945. John English directed.

Our second feature will be Zane Grey’s “Born To The West” starring young John Wayne, Marsha Hunt and Johnny Mack Brown. Paramount released this film in December 1937 and Charles Barton directed.

We will also watch Chapters 4 and 5 of our Republic serial for the 2013-14 season, “Son of Zorro” starring George Turner, Peggy Stewart, Roy Barcroft and Edward Cassidy.

Rounding out the evening will be those purveyors of fine western music, The Trailblazers. You won’t want to miss it.

Hope to see you there, pardner!

For the October Meeting, we honor our “Cowboy of the Year” Hoot Gibson. Hoot was a great cowboy who used a lot of humor in his movies.

The movie lineup is:

  1. Hard Hombre (Allied, 1931) starring Hoot Gibson, Lina Basquette and Skeeter Bill Robbins. The film was directed by Otto Brower.
  2. Episodes 2 and 3 of Son of Zorro starring George Turner, Peggy Stewart and Roy Barcroft (a Republic Serial released in 1947).
  3. Trailin’ West (Warner Brothers, 1936) starring Dick Foran, Paula Stone, Gordon (Bill) Elliott. Noel Smith directed this movie and Anthony Coldeway wrote the script.

Jerry Sprague will fill in as the Master of Ceremonies for the Ole Cowpoke during the October meeting.
