Howdy Buckaroos and Buckarettes!

It’s time once again to ride over to the ol’ Bar-M (NCSU McKimmon Center) for a really big B-Western Film night. Plan to join us on Thursday, January 18 at 6:45PM

Our film line-up will surely keep you warm on this long winter’s night:

Hopalong Cassidy with George “Gabby” Hayes (Art © Jim Sanders)

The first feature is Mystery Man (United Artists, 1944) Starring William “Hopalong Cassidy” Boyd, Andy Clyde, Jimmy Rogers and Don Costello. Directed by George Archainbaud.

We’ll follow Mystery Man with The Texas Kid (Monogram, 1943) Starring Johnny Mack Brown, Raymond Hatton, Shirley Patterson and Marshall Reed and directed by Lambert Hillyer.

We will FINALLY see the last chapter of “Valley of Vanishing Men” starring Wild Bill Elliott, and we’ll view the first chapter of a new serial “Batman”. Produced in 1943, the series stars Lewis Wilson, Douglas Croft, and J. Carrol Nash as “?”.

PLEASE NOTE: In the event the weather takes a turn for the slippery worst, if Wake County Schools are closed, we will not have a meeting.

B-Westerns, Randolph Scott, Rex Allen, Western Film Preservation Society

It’s time to saddle up and mosey over to the McKimmon Center at NCSU for another BIG western show and we’ve got two great films for you.

Lobby Card for “Silver City Bonanza”

First, our Cowboy of the Year, Rex Allen stars in “Silver City Bonanza” (Republic, 1951) also starring Buddy Ebsen, Mary Ellen Kay and Billy Kimbley. Directed by George Blair. This film co-stars Alix Ebsen as Rex’s sidekick. “Alix” is Buddy Ebsen’s real name and is used in the official billing. “Buddy” was used in all original advertising.

Second, we’ll view one of Randolph Scott‘s best films, The Gunfighters (Columbia, 1947) also starring Barbara Britton, Dorothy Hart and Bruce Cabot. Directed by George Waggner. This movie will be shown in glorious Cinecolor and was filmed in beautiful Sedona Arizona. You will really like this excellent print which has been restored to its original brilliance.

We’ll also take in Chapter 13 of the Serial: “The Valley of Vanishing Men” (Columbia, 1942) Starring Bill Elliott, Slim Summerville, Carmen Morales and Kenneth MacDonald. Directed by Spencer G. Bennet. Don’t miss “Danger on Domed Rock!”

See you there.
